ABOUT RATNAGIRI ESTATE

Ratnagiri Estate is owned and operated by Ashok Patre. The farm is located near Bababudangiri, in a corner of the South Western Ghats where coffee in India originated. At an average altitude of 1,000 - 1,500 meters above sea level with a lot of rain, the area has a mild climate with cool winds that is perfect for coffee cultivation.
The farm has been producing high-quality coffee since 1927 and made a major investment in the early 2000s to modernize the company and the renewal work continues. In the last three years, Ratnagiri has produced over 150 microlots of different bean types and post-harvest processes. Among other things, they have designed and built stainless steel tanks to ferment coffee beans in a controlled environment. This type of bean is called Colombia. The coffee berries have been partially peeled and fermented in tanks with CIMA yeast, without water and then washed and dried like a honey.
